Welcome to Caribbean Map Central

Every year, thousands of people fom the United States, the UK, other parts of Europe and elsewhere, visit the Caribbean for travel - sun, sea, sand, beaches, warm weather all year round; the slow pace of life, laid back and easy going...for vacation or holidays, business or to see family or friends.

Many times, those who are not from the Caribbean or have never been there, have a little difficulty figuring out where the different countries are, how close or far away they are from each other, how long it takes to get from one Caribbean island to the next and so on. I've heard some folks refer to the Caribbean as one country...when there are over 30 separate islands or destinations with its own government. Yes, it can get a bit confusing.

I know when I travel, I like to know before I board that plane or cruiseship, as much as I possibly can about where I'm going. And I like to see it on a map somewhere.

And that's why I built this website.

I also have a love of looking at places on a map. So call me weird. Anyway, here are some of the coolest sites I've come across in my surfing for maps...Caribbean maps in particular. Because that's where I live. Hope you find this site useful and drop me an
email if you feel like it sometime.

So what and where is the Caribbean?

The map below shows the region of the Caribbean. According to
Wikipedia (excellent resource), the "Caribbean... is a region of the Americas consisting of the Caribbean Sea, its islands (most of which enclose the sea), and the surrounding coasts.

Located southeast of Northern America, east of Central America, and to the north and west of South America, the Caribbean is usually considered a subregion of North America...the area comprises more than 7,000 islands, islets, reefs, and cayes.

The West Indies consist of the Antilles, divided into the larger Greater Antilles which bound the sea on the north and the Lesser Antilles on the east, and the Bahamas which are northeast of the sea. Bermuda lies much further to the north in the Atlantic Ocean and is sometimes included in the West Indies."

Here is a
great detailed PDF map, of the Caribbean region.
